I will actually use the direct button functions more than the AF point change (I rarely stray away from centre point AF), so I find the new system an improvement. That said, I am a big proponent of firmware power to the people and I agree that the option should be there for switching the use of these buttons around. Likewise, I would like to swap the green button for the AF button.
Different photographers have different needs. It is impossible to please every one of them with a single camera, but having customisable buttons will increase the number of happy photographers. I cannot believe that camera engineers have not grasped this yet, so I have to believe that they're doing it on purpose, which is equally ludicrous. In short: I'm baffled. To paraphrase Obelix: These engineers are crazy... --M. -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- http://enticingthelight.wordpress.com -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 2009/5/25 William Robb <war...@gmail.com>: > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Dario Bonazza" > Subject: K-7 in hand > > > >> >> The only thing I truly don't like is they have inverted the concept of the >> four-way controller. >> Old: direct control of AF points and shortcut to >> balance/shooting/ISO/flash settings (second function) via Fn button. >> New: direct access to settings I don't use so often and indirect access to >> moving the AF points (via the OK button), which I often change all the >> time. > > I thought that was a really stupid way to set the camera up when I read the > spec sheet.
