Having lived in New York and Boston, I feel your lack of enthusiasm for the oppressive heat and humidity. In Seattle today, it will top out at 72° about 5 PM. Currently: Temperature: 59.7°F / 15.4°C | Humidity: 39% | Pressure: 29.65in / 1003.9hPa (Steady) | Conditions: Clear | Wind Direction: ENE | Wind Speed: 3.6mph / 5.8km/h

That's really great weather, Joseph, but...how do you stand the very high percentage of precipitation and the omnipresent GRAY overcast?

You just said, sun after 5 PM. Seattle happens.

Wouldn't you like the sun during the day?

Just askin'...

Check your percentages of rainy days vs sunny days here against many other places. It is true we have more days of rain, but up here, it's usually just a mist or light drizzle, which is why we don't carry umbrellas. No need.

"This Afternoon - Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s. North wind to 10 mph."

While it's true that many of our days start out cloudy, we have what are called "sun breaks" in the afternoon, and nice sunsets. The sun was out today from noon until sunset at 9:10 pm. It'll be back up (no clouds) at 05:07 am tomorrow, and drive the temperature all the way up to the low 70s. Actually, in Everett, it only made it to 69.8 Friday at "4:51 pm: Temperature: 69.8°F / 21.0°C | Humidity: 22% | Pressure: 29.65in / 1003.9hPa (Steady) | Conditions: Clear | Wind Direction: East | Wind Speed: 5.4mph / 8.7km/h"

Saturday - Mostly sunny and warmer. Highs in the 70s. Light wind.

I personally like a high overcast and temps in the mid 60s. Higher is too hot. I've had several carcinomas removed from my back as a result most likely of to much beach time in Florida and San Diego in my twenties, and am advised to wear long sleeves, long pants, and big floppy hats when I go out in the sun. So I don't spend as much time as I'd like outdoors on sunny days until a few hours before sunset or a few hours after sunrise.

Shoulda been an astronomer.
