Dave, I couldn't help but notice that vast majority of your shots in this set have very centristic composition. I don't know if this is good for this kind of photography, but perhaps introduction of K-7 with its allegedly better AF system would help you to move away from center based motive...
That's pretty much the enforced composition in this type of photography. I run into this with Agility. If the dog isn't dead center going over the jump, the picture is a fail.
