It's dust on the sensor.
That white thing is an airplane in one of the shots.

Ann - if you take a shot of the blank sky with a wide-open aperture,
and then again with the lens stopped down all the way, you'll see
that the little greyish circle-like blob is more defined in the
small- aperture shot.
Your sensor needs to be cleaned - by someone who knows how to do
it.... Or you get to learn how to photoshop it out of every sky shot.

alas - it is what I feared.... and I understand from what you said why
it didn't matter so much in a couple of
the shots....
