ummmm, no, the the USA rolling 12 month CPI has actually fallen for year ending in may2009, housing and energy costs are the biggest drops. the weak economy has caused price drops, not increases to move things. high unemployment is a big factor too. Just look at ebay, nearly everything is selling for less than it was 18-24 months ago. Camera gear included. Lenses are down in price there from the peaks for sure. For how long, who knows ??
Ebay has more listings than ever, but less total sales. Prices are down. Unsold items are up. Ebay is a pretty good indicator of the world economy because of the nature of "auction" type pricing and sales. -- J.C.
