Well, the 3216/679B is definitely a decent monopod, and it runs about US$ 50 at B&H and Adorama.
When I looked it up on Adorama a minute ago, I also noticed that they had a couple of Bogen/Manfrotto monopods that were four- or five-sectioned. One of those might suit whoever it was looking for one that collapses to 19" or shorter.
