I think a preference for a particular camera and user-interface
judgments are somewhat a product of what one becomes accustomed to.
When I was using the K10D exclusively, everything was automatic. I
barely had to think. When I went back to it after using the K20D for a
few months, I was confused and annoyed, even though it was quite
similar. Just yesterday, after only about two weeks and some 900
frames with the K7D I switched back to the K20D to shoot a panorama. I
had to pause and think about how to choose manual white balance. Any
tool that is used every day becomes an extension of the hand and mind.

I'm not being a sh!t stirrer, but people who say this have never
really used a Nikon. And if you don't like the default button & dial
assignments, you at least have the option of changing them.
And I'm not talking about using a different make of camera for a few
hours, I mean really use one. My K20D frustrates the hell out of me
when I use it up now.
