The books amazon erased were sold illegally by a third party. By
erasing them amazon is just protecting the rights of the author's
heirs and estate. However, amazon has decided that they won't do that
again, but they will be more cautious when it comes to enabling
marketers of digital books.
Not a big deal, and all those whose books were erased have been
reimbursed.
It''s the film vs. digital debate all over again. Guess how its going
to end.

Amazon can apparently access your Kindle any time they want to and
erase books you have already purchased. I'd like to see them try
that with my old second-hand paperback copy.
