Don't know about this one, it looks cardboard. Mine is plastic sleeved inside vinyl.

Mine is more like this one, only from Hong Kong for $5

And I got this one from Hong Kong for $6.98, free shipping.

Here's what they do. Black on the outside, white or silver on the inside. They soften the light of direct flash, making it less harsh on skin, and reducing the direct highlites. I use the on-camera version for close ups of equipment (with two diffused 540s on the side for fill) and it looks good. My opinion.

I'm sure a larger one (really large) would be better for portraits. But where would you keep it in your kit? These things are cheap, fold flat, and take up no space in your kit's side or front pocket.

Good God man. I bought two online direct from China. Slightly
different designs, in that one is designed to go on your 540 flash,
the other attaches to your PUF. Clever piece, that.

Paid less than $10 each including shipping from China.

What's the link to the ones in China? I like my lumiquest diffusers,
they aren't magic, but they help. They're also a lot more portable
than my milk jug diffusers.
