I think Rob Studdert has posted panos here that use Autopano Pro.  Very
impressive technology.

You can get an idea of how good it is using the freeware Autostitch
program, which, I think, uses the same technology.  However, it only
works with jpegs.

Although the download is labelled "Demo", it doesn't apply any
watermarks to the pano.  It just periodically expires and you need to
download it again.

As I mentioned to Christine, Hugin is another freeware program that
works well.
