Funny you should mention this, just a few hours ago I was experimenting tagging my images too. I'm using a portable GPS device that generates GPX track log files directly. I shouldn't need to use GPSbabel but some Geotagging apps seem to need the files trans coded from GPX to GPX format ;-( In any case to this point I've tried two freeware geotaggers, geotag (java app) and GPicSync (windows based) both have their advantages but neither is really straight forward to use. Hopefully I'll find something like HoudahGeo for the PC. If anyone has any suggestions decent geotagging software (that handles Pentax RAW, DNG and JPG) under Windows I'm all ears.
