First, thanks Scott!
Yet another WOW gallery. These words should be taken in context - PUG is
usually composed of VERY GOOD stuff, wich leaves some words lacking to
describe the stronger ones.
Lately I had little time to be online, and being dependent makes me even
more unbearable... NOT old age! :-)
I'll start comments by my own image - taken during a long unsucessfull
job long ago. I do feel my idea is ok - that's a beautiful place indeed
- but I really meant a different result. The sky is rather plain, and
the water and leaves should be still. Of course the wind and the rain
won - we had only four days in that place and all mornings were wet. I
feel I failed - but often ask myself if I could get a better result one
day. Still, I felt like showing - first in my beta page, then in the
gallery.
Alastair's is impressive. A trully stunning place, and a tricky exposure
as combines the natural and artificial lights. The only suggestion I can
think of is either increasing the blur or reducing... and by that I mean
the image IS impressive.
Bong's impressive too. That image made me feel well, some kind of joy -
being alive maybe. Rather opposite to my night shots, wich I feel
usually reflect sadness. The skyline is beautiful, the lights bright,
only suggestion would be a second and third tries spaced some 40s to
darken slightly the sky - but then maybe it could spoil the happy mood.
David's sky is a very strong image too - but I believe a sharper
foreground would make even stronger. Wind? I don't really trust this
monitor, will take a third look later... apologies in advance if the
fall in sharpness is here, David! Got me lost until I understood where
was the south side of the sky...
Ann's window is a lovely grab - proof that even wild islands still offer
some peace after sunset. Considering the size of the sensor, very good
performance for that camera too. I like it - from the part human on the
left, to the strong sidelight on the street. Suggestion - increase
sensor size! Those shadows should be darker... ;-)
Ralf's impressive - as usual... I can only imagine the colors...
Christine's impressive too, outstanding perception and very well
grabbed. More in line with the title than any other entry - I wonder
what that girl would see in really "phantasmagoric" places...
Toralf's very, very interesting view. I could think of a slightly darker
sky... yes, assuming it would be possible. Not sure if it's my field
monitor... a third view is scheduled :-)
Ted's image looks too perfect to be true - no, that's not a problem.
Suggestion would be darkening the shadows a little.
Daniel's pic gave a feel of being there - very interesting, I would
probably try a more "moving" image. Again, hard to fault the sensor...
Brian's eclipse is a very good idea - one of these days I hope
understanding my Ds as well. That Tamron looks a fine lens.
Paul's image is a classic - from the idea to the finished photo. Minor
suggestion, the couple could be either facing the camera or with some
extra movement - meaning a staged photo... Assuming that's a grabshot,
it's as good as it gets.
Joseph's Coast is also very interesting, to the use of the car lights -
I have to get out of the city one of these days and give moonlight a try.
Walt's Messier 42 is awesome. I have a fair idea of the work needed to
perform one of these - not to forget the gear. Even with gear and
technique, not an easy task. Well done indeed!
PJ's powerplant is very interesting too. I really can't make my mind
about the ghost image - I'd probably choose with the image. It adds
reality to the photo, IMHO.
Mark's stars are impressive too. Who said film is dead??
Akis Karamanos' image falls out of the joyful lot, for me. Reminds me of
the almost-jungle of my youth, but more like in a dangerous - or at
least tense mood. Very interesting.
Well, that's my view. Sorry about the long post... and thanks for the show!
