Marc,

Im quite sorry this deal did not work out this nonsense about sending
back all those zooms for quality control faults is of course a lie. Im
amazed at how creative these guys are in finding new ways of defrauding
people.

To think that last night, after writing my initial post on this topic
discouraging you from the "deal," I was actually close to writing you that
maybe you should go for it after all!

As Robert Harris pointed out, there is the possibility that, if you gave
your credit card on line, theyll still bill you. Nothing is too immoral
for these jerks. I would check periodically with your card company for
charges and be prepared to dispute through them.

I of course second Joseph Tainters advice to purchase the older FA 28-105
powerzoom 27667 (which I mentioned in my earlier posting as still being
available new at Focus) that or the 28-70/4. I always recommend at least
one good FA prime the least expensive way to do this is the FA 50/1.4,
which is great bang for the buck.

Also, though Ive had good luck with most of the retailers you mention (and
particularly B&H), most of these are still New Yorkers, and operating at
very low margins, and therefore not above some sly tactics and pressure
sales. So, you still have to be a bit wary, and exactly certain of what you
are buying.

Have you seen this site?:

You may consider submitting your story. There are some interesting stories
about the Regency/Executive/Marine Park/Tri-State/CCI/Abe's/Smile, etc. type
of stores.

Anyway, good luck and tell us what you end up with!

Rob
