Facebook has its plusses and minuses, as do each of the social
networking sites. I avoided it for years, but when I got dragged onto
it, found that it was the defacto communications channel for the vast
majority of my "normal" friends, especially the ones under 40.

Most of the geeks and freaks are still over on Livejournal, but a lot of
them are heading over to facebook.

When I take pictures at an event, I'll post the few good ones on
flickr, but I'll post the mass of them on facebook where folks can tag
them for each other. About once a week I'll get an email from facebook
that someone made one of my photos their profile picture.

I have gotten to the point that I basically just ignore any of the
stupid games and apps that go around facebook like STDs in a freshman
dorm.

The first step is learning to take great photos,
the second step is learning to throw away ones that are merely good.
