It's apparently going to be the price of a small car. So let's say it will
cost the same as a Fiat 500, which was the best small car of last year,
according to some poll or other.

Taking the midpoint of the price range, let's say you're going to pay
£11,000 for the small object of your desire. Instead of buying the car,
which you can afford but don't want anyway - buy the camera!

Now think of the savings. If you drive on average 12,000 miles per year,
that's 36,000 miles over the lifetime of the loan. At 50mpg you will need
720 gallons of petrol, which is going to cost you about £3,500. That's
without taking into account depreciation vs appreciation, additional running
costs, tax, insurance and the price of bumber stickers.

So buying a Leica M9 will save you at least £3,500 over 3 years. That's
enough to have Chas Roberts build you a custom, made-to-measure, handbuilt
Audax bicycle and still have some money left to buy Rapha cycle clothing.

Now who in their right mind would prefer a shitty little Fiat over a Leica
and a Roberts bike?
