Two easy tests. For general qualities, photograph a brick wall at various apertures. Tripod mounted, lens axis carefully made perpendicular to the wall - which will hopefully make the focal plane parallel. For CA, the thin upper branches of a tree against a flat, cloudy sky. Post the pixel-peep results for others to confirm your suspicions.
