Since Light room won't even install on my machine, but the Pentax
software does, so that's what I;m using for my K20D files. Yes the
interface is clunky compared to what I was using before, but it gets the
job done. I haven't needed a really smooth workflow for a large number
of images since I got the K20 but if it becomes necessary, I guess I'll
find a way to work the upgrade costs into the budget.

Yup! Got similar results. Except if the Pentax/Silkypix was bad
enough to begin with, the interface of the version that comes with the
K-7 is really a pain. For a while, I thought - "hey! it looks like
Lightroom..."

gang,
I played with the shadow compensation feature in the K-7 this
week-end, to see how much it actually compressed the histogram. It
looked good on the camera screen, and the amount of detail lifted out
of the mirk was quite significant, using the Pentax/Silkypix software.
With LightRoom there was virtually no difference at all, between
turning it to max and turning it off.
I shoot DNG.
Anyone else had similar experience?
