I had the same problem with Epson 2100, the default printer driver
is NOT the correct Epson driver.
The bad news is that I googled, found an epson page, installed the
correct driver and forgot. However, I think the right thing to do is
to remove the printer driver with the "Gutenprint" name. Turn the
print off, remove the cable, wait a little, put the cable back, turn
the printer on and let thing happen by themselves. Suddenly the
correct driver was back.

I installed OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) on my iMac yesterday. Turns out
the driver for the Epson 2400 won't allow advanced PhotoShop
printing choices with 10.6, despite Epson's claims that their driver
is compatible. No cure that I can find. I may have to reinstall
10.5. Arrrrrgggh!
