Gutenprint was installed by Snow Leopard, but I removed it. At one
point I tried removing every Epson driver that the system software had
installed, then reinstalling the correct Epson driver. I also checked
which driver was being used in System Preferences.
Are you running PhotoShop CS4? My system was able to print from other
software, but not from CS4. The problem is specific to that software,
but only when used with Snow Leopard. I'm now back to running 10.5.8
for now. I still have Snow Leopard on my laptop however, so I'll
experiment again when I have time.

The bad news is that I googled, found an epson page, installed the
correct driver and forgot. However, I think the right thing to do
is to remove the printer driver with the "Gutenprint" name. Turn
the print off, remove the cable, wait a little, put the cable back,
turn the printer on and let thing happen by themselves. Suddenly
the correct driver was back.

I installed OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) on my iMac yesterday. Turns
out the driver for the Epson 2400 won't allow advanced PhotoShop
printing choices with 10.6, despite Epson's claims that their
driver is compatible. No cure that I can find. I may have to
reinstall 10.5. Arrrrrgggh!
