Many other people have tested other cameras with and without MLU, and have found a difference. There are numerous variables to consider. One test with a Nikon 6006 only shows what you found under your conditions with that particular camera. I don't buy the idea that your results will cut across the board, encompassing a wide variety of conditions, cameras, subjects, and shooting styles.
I believe it was Keppler, a year or so back, who tested MLU and tripod supports in order to determine if there was any degradation of the image by not using MLU and certain supports, and his results, if I'm not mistaken, run counter to yours.
