This is common myth, not all records and players produce audible "scratching" tick/pop sounds. When using better gear and good conditon records, this isnt a problem. The problem with CD/MP3 is it never sounds really good no matter how good your player or recordings, even without any "scratching" tick/pop sounds. Its always mediocre.
