I've been w/o work the last two months (BTW anyone know of any SAP gigs around the country and have a contact?) and out of curiosity, looked on craigslist. Any of you software developers will love this one. At least read the big paragraph close to the bottom.
Med to Adv Programmer Needed (Boise) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2009-11-19, 11:10AM MST Reply to: deleted -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm looking for someone that knows how to build a computer program. Basically what I want it to do is automate some tasks for me. I've used Windows SendKeys and have written a few scripts to automate some repetitive tasks in Windows for me, and that's about the extent of my programming knowledge. Now I know I can go on any of the "Hire a Freelance Programmer" websites and pay someone from overseas $10 or $20 to write this for me. And this is probably just me, but I'm just a bit iffy about THAT whole idea. I'd just rather hire someone from the US, better yet from the Boise area (since I live right here) and I can meet with and talk to you. (among a few other reasons that I'll explain below) Just the idea of trying to tell someone over email exactly what I want, and then if it's not working right explain to them what I'd like changed, just doesn't sound like fun. I don't want to give out a lot of details here, but I do want to try and explain some, so you know, somewhat, what you'll be getting into. I've purchased a handful of programs for some of the things I'd like to automate, but each one only does one or maybe two things. There are dozens of these crappy programs out there, that I'm pretty sure have been written by someone overseas, crappily put together, and 2 - 3+ years out of date. Which means the majority of the program doesn't even do it's job right, or not at all. Yet of course when they sell these programs they hype them up to be so amazing and can do all this stuff for you. Then when you buy them, you find out very fast how much they SUCK, and to try and reach the person selling them to get a refund is impossible, so you're then stuck with a crappy product. And the people selling them aren't from overseas, so you'd think it would be fairly easy to get a refund, but no... What I'd like do is take is all the ideas of what they do and put them all into one program that I can use for myself, and have it actually work. There are dozens of these crappy products out there And when you're taking a crappy product programmed for $10 from over seas and you rip it off and then reprogram it again, you're getting an even crappier product... I guess I'd rather just pay one decent price upfront and get a really good product to start with. So you wouldn't have to start from scratch, I have a bunch of these crappy programs that you could start with to get some ideas if you'd like. And even if for some reason you couldn't combine all them into one product, maybe just make a new one of each that actually works and does what it's supposed to. What I'd like to do is have you call me, and we can talk a little about this first, so first come first serve on the phone calls. I work from 2-11pm M-F so if I don't answer, I will call you back as soon as I can. Or you can just email me your name and phone number as well, either way, phone or email is fine, still first come first serve. The next thing, if this all sounds like something you can and want to do, is I want to meet up to show you the crappy programs and show you what I want them to actually do. I have a lot of extra details that I'd like mine to actually do. Then you can give me some details as to how long something like this would take you and we can figure out some kind of payment. Meaning we can agree on a onetime payment, or an hourly wage and you tell me about how many hours it will take. I don't have tons of extra cash laying around so I just don't want a surprise like you tell me $30 an hr and it'll take 4 hours to complete. Then you come back and say well I guess it took 15 hours instead.. That kinda thing. Just as long as it's a fair and decent amount or fair hourly wage I'm ok with that... I'm willing to pay a fair amount, (I just used $30 as an example) I just don't want a big surprise or anything crazy like that. Fair enough? Also make sure you're local to the area, because I will want to meet up to discuss a lot of the details. Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you soon.
