The farmers dye the rams different colours then put them in with the ewes. The dye rubs off on the backs of the ewes when the ram covers them. That way the farmer knows which ewes have been tupped, and by which ram. If we go back there in 5 months we'll see lots of bouncy baa-lambs looking just like daddy...
