That's one of the types of shots I was most trying to get. I was getting a lot
of good photos of individual riders or bunches of two but I didn't think those
ones suited the event, so I managed to find a couple of places where I could
point the lens straight up the road.

The other type of shot I wanted is the wide-angle shot with riders coming past
really close, but it's really hard to make that one work. On one super-tight
corner I had to back away from the barrier because the riders were *too* close
and I didn't want to be responsible for bringing someone down!

These galleries from the past couple of days have also found me cropping a lot
more than usual. It's interesting trying to decide what stays and what goes.

It's good fun to watch and it's amazing how quickly 45 minutes disappears when
you're shooting. It seems a lot like rally racing, about every 2 minutes
there's a 10-second flurry of activity then it goes quiet again.

Cheers,
Dave
