That's one of the types of shots I was most trying to get. I was getting a lot of good photos of individual riders or bunches of two but I didn't think those ones suited the event, so I managed to find a couple of places where I could point the lens straight up the road. The other type of shot I wanted is the wide-angle shot with riders coming past really close, but it's really hard to make that one work. On one super-tight corner I had to back away from the barrier because the riders were *too* close and I didn't want to be responsible for bringing someone down! These galleries from the past couple of days have also found me cropping a lot more than usual. It's interesting trying to decide what stays and what goes. > My local suburb has hosted a Criterium race for the last few summers. > It is a bit of 'showing the flag' after the Tour De France. It's good fun to watch and it's amazing how quickly 45 minutes disappears when you're shooting. It seems a lot like rally racing, about every 2 minutes there's a 10-second flurry of activity then it goes quiet again.
