Here are a couple of photos that I really wanted to pick for the galleries but
they didn't quite work out.

Notice the state of the fence in this one. Behind it is a near-vertical drop
of about 200 metres. I was disappointed about the blurred rider but the
background is a bit overexposed as well. When I first saw it on the camera
screen I though I'd nailed a great shot :(

Here's the first photo from the first gallery for comparison. The background
turned out a lot better at the expense of the foreground needing some careful
work in Photoshop. I still had to crop out most of the blown-out sky but I
liked the background so much I left it as a panorama even though I don't like
the riders being in the centre. I also wanted to show that noone is in front
of these guys (they were the race leaders, by quite a good margin as you can
see).

Now that I look at it again I could probably lift the curves a little more.

I'll also note that due to the roads not being closed, the safety rules
theoretically forbid the riders from crossing the centre line. Only when the
marshals are watching, of course. But I did make a point of cutting out any
photo that shows a recognisable rider breaching the rule.

Here's another out-take. I think it needed a slightly slower shutter speed.
Warning, it might induce headaches :) I did play around with doing a B&W
version but didn't really have the time to see it through.

Cheers,
Dave
