I like it - but, what's a 'single-shot Americano?'

movie...)
Americano is the expensive way to serve up a regular coffee.
It also used to be the only way to get a decent cup of coffee at
Starbucks. They've improved their normal coffee of late, but in the
past it was quite awful and whenever I wanted a "normal" coffee from
Starbucks I'd order an Americano.
Agreed. Their regular coffee was worse than the typical hotel swill.
I haven't set foot in a Bigbucks in quite some time, but it's nice to
hear they're improving things a bit. On the other hand, St. Louis
Bread Company (known elsewhere as Panera) used to have really good
brewed coffee. Earlier this year they changed it to something a lot
like that crap Starbucks serves. And I stopped going. Then one
Sunday morning the wife says she wants cranberry walnut bagels and
drags me into their nearest store. They had a "new" smooth blend. It
was their old coffee. I still can't quite figure out why on earth
they'd want to emulate the coffee of a chain that recently had to
close a bunch of stores.
Starbucks quit using a dark roast as their standard fare about a year
ago. Their Pike Street blend, which is a medium roast Arabica mix, is
the regular offering in most stores now, and it's reasonably good.
