Yes, I agree with you about the background.  I thought it was too bright in the 
original but I think I actually brightened it slightly in the B&W version as I 
was trying to wring a little more contrast out of the foreground.

Despite yours and Frank's opinions I'm still unconvinced :)  I think that 
getting the focus right may have turned a "good" image into a "really good" 
one, but it may be that the frustration of having "missed" is clouding my 
judgement.  It doesn't help that I'm very fussy about details, which is pretty 
hard when taking photos at this speed.

That's exactly why I preferred the colour one.  The background is quite low in 
contrast and while I like it by itself, I wasn't sure that it really suited 
that photo.

Big thanks everyone who commented.  I'm itching to dust off the printer again 
and use up some of my expired ink.
