The classic formulas are the same. However, the packaged products from both
companies depart from the published formula. Neither company is telling
exactly how. It's believed that Ilford adds chelating agents and
anti-foaming agents, and Kodak substitutes sodium metabisulfite for some of
the sodium sufite, as a preservative and to keep the pH constant. These may
not be the only differences.
