same here, I've had one motor fail and I believe so have others but I've never seen a single report of an in-body shaft drive af motor failure > In my minimal exposure to SDM I was surprised at how silent it is. It is as > if the image comes into focus by magic. I can see that it would be very > useful when you don't want people to notice that you are taking pictures of > them. They won't hear anything until the shutter clicks. Which I suppose > would be another advantage of the K7 over the K20. yes that is the main advantage for me, it doesn't draw attention > I have heard that an SDM lens can focus faster than a conventional autofocus > lens. IMVHO the difference is probably on a measurebatory level. Given K10D AF, K7 AF not justifiying a body upgrade over more glass, my choicemaking (and thus my recommendation) leans towards weatherproofing (my reason to tolerate AF - imperative where available) and fast aperture for less low light hunting. Higher price and mostly higher IQ comes naturally and SDM to me is the icing on the cake but with a pinch or two of Damocles's sword added. As goes for all views stated here: YMMV Cheers Ecke -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
