No only a  K20D and K-x and neither are really up to the job. We have
a relatively big yard and my little guy is always on the go, no matter
what lens I use and using any focus mode the cameras just can't lock.
My K10D AF was much worse which could have been due to its misaligned
mirror but surely the later too can't be bad as well?

Obviously Pentax's focus assist is fine with relatively static subjects.
