Most top end strip film scanners also allow scanning of mounted slides, my new and old Polaroids allow 4 mounted slides to be inserted in a single holder. The operation is automatic and I suspect dynamic, my Polaroid SS4000 scans the entire slide whilst "focussing" so I suspect that it builds a dynamic profile for application during the actual scan.
