Frantisek, When I got my first 35mm, a Honeywell Pentax H3 bought used in 1977, I thought it was remarkable that I was able to have both eyes open, under the right circumstances, when shooting. It had a 55/1.8 Takumar, and I came to love that old camera.
Beat the pants off the 110's that I been using up to that point. Now that I'm older ( And presumably wiser ) I find that I've ended up with 3 55's, one for each of the cameras that I use regularly. So these odd focal lengths like 58 and 55 are actually to enable you to have both your eyes open when shooting. A nice feature! Comes from the early days of SLR design, Exakta and such.
