Thought some of you might be interested in these lovely portraits of
women
from Georgia taken by Vanessa Winship. I enjoy Winship's work & hadn't
been
to her site in a while & just now was treated to this lovely, elegant
collection. Apparently, Winship was in the UK last October.

I have very ambivalent feelings about these. Some are wonderful,
others just creepy. Some of them look like they're photoshopped into
the background, others seem manipulated in a most unnatural way. Yet
some work beautifully and are very sad and poignant.
Thanks for posting this!

On the whole, I agree with you Frank - I find them disturbing, actually -
Might have been more kindly disposed to some if I had not seen so many at
once ... Don't care for the mix of the heavily photoshopped artsy stuff
and the straight posed shots. I found her writing overly , um, "honed" .
There seemed to be something amiss with the site -- Can't imagine the
prose was supposed to be a side
bar and the photos slideshowing across with a big blank space in the
middle.
Sorry, Christine - Can't go with ya on this one - Of course, Diane
Arbus's stuff is disturbing through and through, and clearly this woman is
familiar with her work... but I'll take the original.
Not a problem, Ann. I actually didn't care for the male portraits mixed in.
When I saw the 1st male portrait I thought what's he doing here? They
bugged me more than the photoshopped pictures--though I do appreciate the
technical excellence of the male portraits.
But I loved the pictures of the women. Cheers, Christine
