Assuming the lens is made out of plastic, I did something like that to a clear plastic cover with some canned air, (freon, or something like it), that came squirting out in a still liquid form.

hard to see, you need light coming in through the lens and need to look at the 
viewfinder such that what you're looking at is dark, from far enough away to 
focus on them.

That's some seriously screwed-up viewfinder there, Larry.
