I quite agree with Paul and Adam except in that I don't consider the Chechnyan resistance terrorist. There is Chechnyan terror as well - too sadly so - and it is saddening to see the resistance also targeting civilians but my connotation of terror includes a cause that is from my point of view illegitimate - which of course is a very daring interpretation; I realize that
And there's part of the problem defining terrorism - one man's terrorist is another man's "freedom fighter".
From my point of view, if you're sneaking around, targeting civilians - soft targets for effect, for the purpose of influencing public opinion, influencing government policy or just for a symbolic protest - you are a terrorist.
If there was any "justice" in your cause, your choice of means nullified it.
