Hi Z No, not a duck. Down here something like that would be a Swamp Hen - not sure what the Florida versions are called but someone is bound to know.
That's a well composed photo with the bird looking in the right direction to give the composition balance. It's a tad soft but a 'keeper' none the less. I like it.
