Well, my other choice for high-res full-frame is the Canon 5D (I don't need the low-light/high-ISO of the Nikon D700). What I've read leads me to believe that I'll like the image character of the Sony better. The Zeiss lenses are also more attractive to me than the Canon L-series. And sensor-based shake reduction is also an attraction. The lens selection is undoubtedly much smaller, but it's good enough for most of what I do and I can add 3rd-party lenses to fill in. In fact, my first lens will probably be the Sigma 50mm f/1.4. Sony certainly isn't actively *promoting* the idea of buying 3rd-party lenses for their cameras, but they're clearly relying on it at least partly to help sell their full-frame bodies until they fill out their lens line-up. >Also you wouldn't have to contend with their stupid proprietary flash >hot shoe :-) That's the biggest drawback. But it does have a PC socket and I have an AF 240 :-) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
