I'm going to second Rob's recommendation of using Hugin. It's very
powerful, and you can spend hours messing with settings...except you
don't have to because the defaults work perfectly. A shameless yet

I had 4 photos I wanted to stitch and Photoshop CS4's Photomerge was
refusing to do it. Hugin did it without a hiccup, and in less time.
