Your input is much appreciated. I am somewhat surprised that you are seeing such a difference with center weighted metering. It would seem like that is something Pentax would be able to do reasonably well whether it was digital or film. I wonder if perhaps there is something more to do with dynamic range of the sensor on the K7. Earlier digital models may have had narrower range than the current K7 which would show up as metering inconsistencies.
The DR of the K7 doesn't seem any (or at least not appreciably) longer than the K7. The new meter is accurate, the old one either isn't, or is very easily fooled.
