I'm not in Canada (Yet another Australian), but the insurance we have covers us for items upto AU$2000 per item (a camera body is one item, a lens is another item, a filter is yet another item and the insurance company has a list of every item including filters). All items are covered away from the house (and I quote from the policy), Anywhere in Australia or New Zealand, or anywhere else in the world but for a period not exceeding 90 days. So I can't travel for more than 90 days at a time (I wish I was so lucky!). It has a small list of things not covered but none of them are cameras. If you are in Australia (and possibly New Zealand) I thoroughly recommend the policy. It is ONLY available through the Insurance Brokers Network Australia and is called the Gold Star policy - Look at www.ibna.com.au to find a broker. The policy used to be on line somewhere but I can't find it now (doesn't mean it's not just that I can't find it).
