At least an auction normally has pictures and an Ending Time or in some cases a Reserve Price that, when met, means that you psychologically know that the item IS going to sell. These make offer deals offer none of the above. Those who make offers may or may not be serious. The offerer may or may not be serious about selling. In short, in "make offer" deals the seller is a sadist and the offerer a masochist (Masochist says "beat me" and the seller says "no".) :)
"Make offer" deals in which condition and working order is not even mentioned have a special room in Hades awaiting them.
