For me (used to choosing when to autowind or manually wind, but also used to choosing when to autorewind or manually rewind), even more disturbing than being forced to autowind would be the forced autorewinding that occurs (ready or not) at the end of a roll of film in a lot of the newer cameras and camera bodies. Having to listen (and force others to listen) to the seemingly interminable whirring and whining that occurs as a roll of film automatically rewinds would be a nightmare.
