Well, If you're actually going to be at Stanford, there are lots of photogenic architectural subjects. In particular, check out Memorial Church and the Rodan sculpture garden. Highway 1 south of Carmel (the Big Sur area) is incredibly beautiful, as are stretches of Highway 1 between Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
