I sent this off a while ago, but it seems to have gotten eaten by the
email monster. Anyways, I also found reference to a place called ICT:

Does anybody know them?

I took the Tamron 300/2.8 down to Rio Del Mar beach this evening
after work to try it out. I used it mostly wide open both at 300
and with the 2x teleconverter. If you're interested in such
things, my test shots are at:

Mostly seagulls, no brick walls.
Overall, I'm very happy with the lens optically. I'm not sure how
much sharper than my bigma it is, but it's a lot faster, and the
bokeh is worlds better.
The problem is that the knob that keeps the lens from rotating in
the mount collar is broken:

This isn't a huge deal on a tripod with a pan head, but on a monopod
with a ball head, it's very tough to use. If I loosen up the ball
head, it just rotates and falls over.
I suspect that if I had no choice but to repair it myself, I
probably could. But, it also seems that repair would mean pretty
much disassembling the whole unit. Now that Kamera Korner has
closed, the only local repair shop I know is on Bascom in San Jose:

I also found CPS in Sacramento:

Is there any place else that I should check?
