I'm a happy owner of the same lens, with the same "problem".

I'm not sure if the screw is broken. I don't have the lens here, so I
can't check it out. But as I recall, it is meant to look like this.
Don't remember the details, but try to fiddle more with it, and see if
you can get it to fit better. I did, so maybe you can to.
