I've had both. > > 1. What do you like about this lens? What do you diskile about it? M50/2: Likes-- nice handling, smooth focus and aperture controls, small and compact (though no smaller than M50/1.7, it is lighter). Dislikes--mediocre image quality, especially near wide open. A50/2: Likes-- Pretty good image quality, compact (but no smaller than A50/1.7). Dislikes--cheap nasty crappy plastic construction. > 2. Do you use the lens often? When and under what conditions? I no longer use either lens, preferring my 1.7/1.4 50's. > 3. How does the lens handle? Above. > 4. What is your impression of the optical performance of this lens? Is > it sharp? How good is its bokeh? What about color rendition, > distortion, flare-resistance, etc.? The A50/2 is a pretty good performer at all stops at least down to f/11 (I rarely stop down below that). The M50/2 is pretty lame wide open, and wasn't much better at f/2.8. Decent performance for 4X6 prints required at least f/3.5. Performance lags behind the A50/2 at every stop, but comes pretty close by around f/5.6. Color and flare resistance seemed fine, but not outstanding. Prior to the M50/2 I had an old Vivitar K-mount 50/2 that absolutely blew the Pentax away for sharpness. But mechanically it had problems. > > Please post aour answers to to the PDML, so that others may comment on > your answer.
