We bought it online and AFAIK we weren't required to enter a license code (if
we had to, it obviously allowed the purchase anyway). I don't think they'd
want anything as trivial as the license to stop you from parting with your
money.
It's only when we activated the product that the problems began...
I bought it online last week. I ran the installer, it asked for a serial
number, which had been sent to me via email. It noted that I had bought
an upgrade package and so asked me for a legacy SN, which I provided.
It finished the install and it's been working swimmingly for me.
My Canon friend bought it for his PC a few weeks ago, just after it's
release.
He downloaded it, and installed it with no trouble either.
This stuff isn't hard.
