That is not my experience.  Windoze loads a lot of crap that I have to
get rid of, and it makes it difficult to load non-MS programs and make
them the default programs.


And that is not my experience at all. I just loaded Win7-64 onto my computer.
Clean hard drive, fresh install.
The only thing I had to remember to do was to preinstall my RAID drivers.
Non MS programs loaded smoothly, with no hitches.
Even the Windows Live package was a simple install, though it would have been nice of them to let me just install what I wanted rather than forcing me to install the entire thing and then uninstall what I didn't want, but I was allowed to do it with no drama.
File associations so far seem to be correct.
And, I can use old programs that I bought for Win98 rather than being made to buy new software if the old stuff still suits my needs.
This is how computers should work, and I have no complaints at all.
