I'll never forget my daughter Anna, who's a professional singer and actor, saying "please take that HATEFUL picture off my website NOW!!!". We thought it was the best one we'd seen of her. I don't dare share it with the list We have different requirements from photographs. As a photographer we're looking for movement, atmosphere, good lighting, uncluttered backgrounds, sometimes sharpness, sometimes bizarreness - I could go on. Rock musicians want to look cool, have a good (whatever that means) expression and also show themselves in the style of the music they're performing. Here are some of my pictures on a band website, chosen by the band for their bio page: http://www.emerald-sky.com/bio.html Whereas my picks for each of the band members would have been this one for the guitarist: http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/Togfest09/Togfest2009/EmeraldSky/slides/2009062 7_IGP5325.html http://tinyurl.com/34cx5yb Bass player - I sort of agree with her choice, but slightly lean towards: http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/Togfest09/Togfest2009/EmeraldSky/slides/2009062 7_IGP5267.html http://tinyurl.com/354w8ks And drummer (it's in the pdml book, shameless plug, http://www.robertstech.com/pdmlbook/) http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/Togfest09/Togfest2009/EmeraldSky/slides/2009062 7_IGP5297.html http://tinyurl.com/36slgqs (it's in the pdml book, shameless plug, http://www.robertstech.com/pdmlbook/) As I say, we're all looking for different things. I'm sure many people on the list would disagree with my choices - and that's fine.
