A couple things to remember: 1. Grey cards aren't always neutral. The Kodak ones in particular are somewhat warm.
2. Your meter is calibrated for approximately 12.5% grey (ISO standard). Cards are calibrated to 18% grey (Kodak's choice at Ansel Adams suggestion).
